Arrived Safely in Vancouver

I'm in Vancouver!

A picture of me. Not bad, seeing as it's about 4am London time...

Fretful journey to the airport around the M25, but I made it with a reasonable amount of time. Lots of traffic for the Monday morning rush-hour, of course. (Not entirely sure why I booked my flight for this day and time - smacks forehead)!

We left just a bit late from LHR but got blown across and landed early in YVR! Flight was OK. I read a book for most of the way. Air Canada's meals were tiny! I had to ask for (and received) extra portions. A cyclist's metabolism is ferocious, even when you're not riding!

Got a limo from the airport (arranged at the info. desk in departures - C$40, reasonable) and was soon at my accommodation. After settling in, I decided to make sure my bank cards were working. They were, but it took a few goes playing the ATMs to draw cash out. All the ones I tried gave options to draw from a "savings account", "checking account" or "credit card". I didn't know which one to use with my UK debit card. Tried checking and savings in a couple of machines - Nope. (Now getting worried). Tried credit card and it worked!

I went for a long walk downtown during the early evening, as I decided to go cold-turkey with the 8-hour time difference and finally got to bed at 10pm (6am my time). I've got a couple of days in Vancouver to sort out the bike and get a few supplies and then I'm off to Vancouver Island for a warm up ride!

Great pictures, never mind the crowded paths, you could even like to see a few faces on your trip, so remember what it felt like.

Glad to hear you are taking BEARS serously at last.
